The 2009 Recovery Act includes funds for the S.T.O.P. Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Program and the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Assistance Program. The Recovery Act Funds for VAWA and VOCA will provide funding for an 18-month period of time from September 1, 2009 through February 28, 2011. RECOVERY ACT
The VAWA Advisory Board met for two days in June, 2009 to review fifty one applications. The VAWA Advisory Board recommended 32 VAWA Recovery Act projects in the amount of $2,037,309. Projects that were denied funding were given the opportunity to request reconsideration for and final deliberations meeting was held in July. Following this comprehensive process, the Board's final funding recommendations were approved by the Director of the Division of Criminal Justice, the Executive Director of the Department of the Department of Public Safety, and the Governor of Colorado.

2009 VICTIMS OF CRIME ACT (VOCA) RECOVERY ACT
The Governor's Victims' Compensation and Assistance Coordinating Committee (Coordinating Committee) met for two days in June, 2009 to review forty nine applications. The Coordinating Committee recommended 22 VOCA Recovery Act projects in the amount of $785,650. Projects that were denied funding were given the opportunity to request reconsideration of the Board's initial recommendations. A review of requests for reconsideration and final deliberations meeting was held in July. Following this comprehensive process, the Board's final funding recommendations were approved by the Director of the Division of Criminal Justice, the Executive Director of the Department of the Department of Public Safety, and the Governor of Colorado.
