Sex Offender Management for Community Corrections
(3-Day Training)


CONTENT

The class will provide knowledge and skills in order assist in the safe and effective management of sex offenders in community corrections.  It will be provide information and skill-practice regarding state standards and best practices in sex offender management.  Specifically, the training will cover the following topics as described in the Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) Standards and Guidelines for the Assessment, Evaluation, Treatment, and Behavioral Monitoring of Adult Sex Offenders:

c)            Assessment/evaluation of sex offenders
d)            Current research
e)            Community management of sex offenders
f)             Interviewing skills
g)            Victim issues
h)            Sex offender treatment
i)             Choosing evaluators and treatment providers

ELIGIBILTY TO ATTEND THE 3-DAY TRAINING

The class is open to all case managers, supervisors, clinical staff, and program administrators for community corrections programs that supervise sex offenders.  The class is also open to community corrections board members and board staff who accept sex offenders.  Programs and boards that are considering the possibility of sex offender management are also welcome to attend, space permitting.

TRAINING CREDITS

Trainees who successfully complete the 3-day training course are eligible for 21 hours of credit that will meet the Colorado Community Corrections Standards (CCCS). Training certificates of completion will only be administered to those who complete all 3 days of training.

TERMS:

Trainees must be willing to commit to and attend all three full days in order to obtain the certificate of completion.

COST:

The cost for this training and all materials is $50.00 per person and must be paid for at the time of registration. Trainees are responsible for their own travel arrangements and expenses according the policies of their respective employers or agencies. 

WHAT TO BRING?

Trainees are encouraged to dress comfortably and casually for the training, depending on their agency dress code policies and procedures.  Trainees should also be prepared to provide their own lunches and refreshments on both dates.

Please bring your own notebook or notepad for taking notes.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

These trainings are available on a first come, first serve basis. It is strongly recommended that you register early for these trainings!  Due to class size limitations, the DCJ may need to prioritize the registrants who will attend the training.  If so, priority will be given to programs and staff that directly supervise and treat sex offenders.

If you are a NEW user, you must create a new STUDENT ACCOUNT and follow the prompts You must then register for all three days of class (separately) with your student account.
