Justice Assistance Grant
Emergency Funding Process
Emergency funding proposals may be reviewed on an as needed basis, if funds are available. These proposals will be forwarded to the JAG Board Executive Committee if the applicant meets both of the following criteria:

  • The Applicant has demonstrated that there is an urgent and compelling need which must be addressed to maintain public safety, and
  • The Applicant has demonstrated that the timing of other events caused the urgent and compelling need for the proposed project and these events could not be anticipated and were outside the Applicant’s sphere of influence.  An agency’s lack of proper planning (i.e. missed funding opportunities) and/or foreseeable budgetary deficits do not meet the criteria for emergency requests for funding.

No proposals may be funded for more than $50,000 through the emergency funding process. If the request for funding is approved, a complete application will be required.
A written request describing the event and responding to the above criteria must be submitted by mail or e-mail to the Office of Adult and Juvenile Justice Assistance, Division of Criminal Justice, 700 Kipling, Ste. 100, Denver, CO 80215; or kenya.lyons@cdps.state.co.us. The request must be submitted at least 30 days in advance unless otherwise stated above.
