Announcement of Availability of Funds (AAF'S)

2012 John R Justice Program
Request for Applications

As of March 19, the Division of Criminal Justice is accepting John R. Justice (JRJ) program applications.  Applications are due by April 20th by 2 PM. Please thoroughly read the document, Program Overview, Eligibility and Application Instructions before accessing the on-line application system. To apply for the JRJ Program you will need to use the first link to create a user name and password before accessing the on-line application using the second link.  Also, be aware that you will need to access information from the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) which requires a Department of Education pin so please begin that process early enough to request a pin if you do not already have one.  You will also need to scan and attach several documents so you should begin gathering that information as soon as possible.

The Colorado John R. Justice (JRJ) Program provides educational loan repayment benefits to eligible prosecutors and public defenders in Colorado, using funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance. The purpose of the program is to encourage qualified attorneys to choose and remain in careers as prosecutors and public defenders. Selected beneficiaries must commit to continued employment as public defenders and prosecutors for at least three years.

Please note: Next year due to a decrease in funding for the John R Justice Program there will not be an open competitive solicitation for applicants. The State will be receiving less than half of this year’s award and the congressional requirement establishes that previous recipients will be given priority.
