The work of DCJ's Office of Research and Statistics (ORS), Colorado's Statistical Analysis Center in criminal justice, was once again recognized nationally in late October. The Justice Research and Statistics Association (JRSA) honored the report, "Evaluation of the Youthful Offender System (YOS) in CO: 2004" with the Phillip Hoke National Publication Award for Excellence in Research/Policy Analysis. DCJ also received special mention for the newly released "Crime and Justice in Colorado" Report. These studies were supported by federal funds and the reports may be viewed on DCJ's website http://dcj.state.co.us/ors/research_documents.htm.
DCJ's Research Director Kim English and researcher Peggy Heil authored the lead article "Prison Rape: What We Know Today" in Corrections Compendium, The Peer-Reviewed Journal of the American Correctional Association, September/October 2005 edition. DCJ has received a federal grant to support an on-going research study regarding the prevalence and prevention of rape in prisons and jails in the U. S.
